Education

Studied economics at the University of St. Gallen (HSG). Various scientific research and consulting projects at the IfB Institute for Business Administration at the University of St. Gallen, as well as several study-related activities and internships abroad (Germany, UK).

Graduated with a lic. oec. HSG degree in the field of organization (under Prof. Dr. Robert Staerkle). Collaboration on studies and projects on the “Integrated Management Concept” under Prof. Dr. Dres. h.c. Knut Bleicher. Part-time dissertation on the topic of information management controlling at the University of St. Gallen (under Prof. Dr. Robert Staerkle, St. Gallen, and Prof. Dr. Hans Peter Wehrli, Zurich) and doctorate (Dr. oec. HSG).

 

Activities

1988 Started professional career as a consultant with an international management consulting group in Zurich with a highly renowned client base, primarily in the retail, banking, and insurance sectors.

From 1990, senior consultant at Management Beratung AG (MAB) in Küsnacht near Zurich. Project manager and supervisor in the areas of strategy, marketing management, reorganization, and efficiency improvement for leading domestic and foreign companies in trade, industry, and the service sector. Partner from 1992 to 1994.

From 1991 to 1994, he also worked as a lecturer in strategic management and marketing at the St. Gallen Management Program, which at the time was the leading management training institution in St. Gallen alongside the Management Center: Responsible for planning and implementing extensive strategy and reorganization projects, primarily in Germany. In addition, he held various temporary project management and management positions in several mostly medium-sized companies in Switzerland and Germany.

From 1991 to 2000, head of the in-house seminar division of the St. Gallen Management Program; from 1994 to 2001, member of the board of directors of St. Gallen Management Program Holding.

1994 Co-founder of the privately organized St. Gallen Business School (SGBS) as a spin-off from MAB and the St. Gallen Management Program Group: Member of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the St. Gallen Business School from 1994 to 2019 (from 1997 as Managing Director). From 2001 to April 2020, Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Since 1995, continuous expansion and development of SGBS St. Galler Business School into one of the most renowned providers of high-quality management seminars for junior, middle, and senior executives in German-speaking countries.

Simultaneous establishment and expansion of the Management Academy St. Gallen as a sister company.

1999 Initiator and co-founder of the St. Gallen Research Association, serving as its vice president until 2002.

2001 Co-founded and established the management consulting and interim management group TSCI The St. Gallen Consulting Institute in St. Gallen and the SGBC Business Consulting Group in Appenzell.

Initiator and founding director of the educational institution Master Diplome St. Gallen AG for part-time master’s, diploma, and certificate programs for executives.

2002 Founder and president of the Business Books & Tools St. Gallen research association and the St. Gallen Society for Integrated Management – together with Prof. Dr. Dres. h.c. Knut Bleicher. The aim was to further develop and disseminate the ideas of integrated management. To further consistently underpin teaching concepts and methods with scientific evidence, establishment of an advisory board for the St. Gallen Business School together with Bettina Würth and Prof. Dr. Dres. h.c. Knut Bleicher.

2003 Development of a leadership and strategy curriculum in Boston (USA) at the Harvard Club Boston: These seminars, which take place twice a year, have become an integral part of the program for internationally active executives.

2005 Initiative to establish a collective work on integrated management by Knut Bleicher and editor-in-chief of the resulting 6-volume St. Gallen book series “Milestones of Integrated Management” – sponsored by Bettina Würth (Würth Group), Manfred Wittenstein (WITTENSTEIN AG), Martin Siewert (Sanofi), and Werner Neunzig (Reader’s Digest).

2006 Establishment of an MBA program for Integrated Management at the Cracow University of Economics in Krakow (Poland) together with Prof. Dr. Dres. Knut Bleicher and award of the Krakow City Key for laying the foundation stone for the “European Multicultural Integrated Management Program” in 2008.

2007 Founding and establishment of ASCG Sustainable Consulting Group AG in Appenzell as a leading service provider for management training and continuing education.

Since 2008, member of the Harvard Club of Boston/USA and visiting professor at the University of Klagenfurt/Austria. Lecturer in business management at the University of St. Gallen and numerous other renowned institutions and corporate universities, as well as at prominent conferences.

Since 2011, intensive research and project activities for the further development of the concept of integrated management within the framework of the Society for Integrated Management (GIMSG). Founder of the Integrated Management Concept Platform (KIMSG).

2013 Assumed editorial responsibility and overall responsibility for the work “Konzept Integriertes Management” (Integrated Management Concept) by Knut Bleicher.

 

Publications

Author of numerous seminar publications and articles in the field of integrated management, leadership, strategy, and corporate development with the aim of providing scientific support for teaching concepts and methods as well as developing didactic concepts.

More than 25 years of experience in implementing and managing consulting projects for the development of strategies, corporate dynamics and sales concepts, as well as reorganizations at the management and corporate level of renowned international corporations and medium-sized companies. Expertise in the assessment of business plans, management strategies, and succession planning. Management trainer with over 2,000 seminar and workshop days in the field of executive management.
