The management seminars and management training at the St. Gallen Business School are based on the work “St. Gallen Concept of Integrated Management”, which was significantly shaped and developed by our former chairman of the advisory board, Prof. (emer.) Dr. Dres. hc Knut Bleicher – on the basis of the works of Prof. Dr. Dres. hc Hans Ulrich. This St. Gallen management concept has now become a standard in modern management teaching.
The management seminars offer a combination of the scientific basis – the holistic St. Gallen approach – with a high degree of practical relevance and implementation benefits for the individual participants.
One of the St. Gallen Business School’s special skills that have been developed over the decades is the development of seminars for managers and management training programs that enable a practical combination of scientific findings and relevant practice. The St. Gallen management training has an impact: the manager learns knowledge at the seminar that can be applied in the company.
New things have to be practiced: That’s why some of our management seminars include intensive management training.
The founders of the St. Gallen Management Model recognized the integrative power of the systems approach as a framework for management theory as early as the 1960s. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Dr. Hans Ulrich, they developed the St. Gallen Management Model at the HSG (University of St. Gallen) as a framework model for holistic management, a milestone in management education in St. Gallen.
Professor Dr. Knut Bleicher , Chairman of the Advisory Board of our St. Gallen Business School for many years, developed this model further with a group of colleagues and researchers in St. Gallen. The result was the “St. Gallen Management Concept”: the framework model was filled with content and has been an essential part of management training ever since.
Since 1985, the St. Gallen Group of Business Schools has been tasked with transferring the knowledge and wealth of experience of this holistic management understanding into practice. The mission: Good, correct and sustainable management should create high individual and social benefits. To this end, Dr. Günther Pipp founded the private St. Gallen Group of Business Schools in 1985 as a spin-off from the HSG University of St. Gallen. The mission of this leading organization today is to spread the St. Gallen philosophy in practice: holistic and sustainable management. Knowledge for practice, management seminars with the highest implementation benefits.
In 1994, he handed over the management of the group’s largest business school, the St. Gallen Business School, to Prof. Dr. Christian Abegglen , who developed it into a leading management training and Executive education institution. Since 1985, tens of thousands of managers have learned about these ideas at our seminars and programs and used them in their own practice.
The teaching staff at St. Gallen Business School brings together personalities who convey the results of their intensive international activities – whether in science, research, management consulting or as practitioners – in a high-caliber and implementation-oriented manner. All lecturers at St. Gallen Business School are particularly characterized by their high didactic competence in developing and deepening knowledge together with experienced managers.
More about our lecturers and seminar leaders
In addition to professors and renowned experts, an interesting development is emerging in the area of management training and seminars for managers: it is not uncommon for lecturers from seemingly unrelated fields to be rated particularly outstanding by participants, such as a theater actor or a former hockey coach. Our team of lecturers is therefore deliberately diverse: the participants at the seminar really appreciate this!
